Omoda is the product of a clean-slate approach by the group’s designers, engineers and technicians. Nothing was sacred, no holds were barred and every idea was considered. Omoda’s range currently consists of the C5, C5X and C9.

Omoda, which forms part of the Omoda and Jaecoo division of the global Chery Group is making waves across the world and in South Africa since its local launch in March 2023.

Omoda C5 The first product to come out of the Omoda laboratories is the Omoda C5, a sporty compact-sized sport utility SUV fitted with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and offering unmatched levels of luxury and technology.

The C5 is unique in its styling thanks to Omoda’s Art in Motion design language. The sleek, sporty SUV has large wheels, measuring up to 18-inch in size, a sloping roof that rests on darkened roof pillars for a floating look and a seamlessly integrated star diamond grille that is truly unique.

The multi-dimensional grille is the centre piece of the Omoda look and blends into thin T-shaped designed daytime running lights and bright upright-mounted front headlamps. The Omoda brand is proudly displayed on the sculpted bonnet.

The mix of seamlessly flowing curves and sharp lines is repeated on the side profile, which was mathematically calculated to play with the surrounding light. This includes an accentuated hip line and various concave and convex curves in the doors and fenders.

At the rear, the unique Omoda design includes a dual stacked roof spoiler and multi-dimensional rear lights, dubbed X-Wing lights for their use of sharp lines and multiple LEDs.

Many of the unique elements have been further enhanced by contrasting red highlights on the Elegance S-model, such as on the inside planes of the alloy wheels, on the front skirt, side mirrors and stacked rear wings.

Overall the accentuated hip line and floating roof work together to create a wide body profile for a sportier curb appeal.

Inside, motorists are greeted by a futuristic experience that includes dual high resolution 10.25-inch displays. The list of luxury features is comprehensive but includes wireless charging, voice control, sport seats, USB ports in both rows, powered seats and a voice activated sunroof.

The Omoda C5 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that offers 115kW and 230Nm transferred to the wheels through a CVT.

Omoda C5X

The Omoda C5 X Series builds on the C5’s success while offering even more to customers who demand style and substance at an affordable price.

The striking front fascia has been redesigned, adding a sportier and more upmarket look while the diamond matrix grille is more polished and sophisticated.

Lower elements of the bumper have been revised for a cleaner and more modern look and the headlights and daytime running lamps have been sculpted for a more dynamic look.

Alongside the refreshed design elements, a new dual-clutch transmission is now standard on the C5 X Series. This smooth shifter is paired to the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and produces 115kW and 230Nm.

These enhancements bring improved performance including a 0-100km/h sprint time of nine seconds and a 6,9 litre/100km fuel consumption figure.

Under the skin the rear suspension has been replaced with a multilink setup, delivering improved ride comfort and sharper handling.

Inside the C5X benefits from more luxurious soft touch materials for the driver and front passenger door trim, a 50-watt wireless charger and a boot that has been increased to 442 litres.

Omoda C9

The Omoda C9 is the brands flagship model available in two generously equipped derivatives, that offer front wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration.

As the brands flagship model, the C9 features an award winning avantgarde exterior design and a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that offers 192kW and 400Nm via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Omoda C9 FWD derivative boasts a lengthy list of standard equipment, including items such as 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, black leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel and dual-zone climate control.

The interior is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, head up display, a 540-degree camera system and a variety of highly advanced driver-assistance features.

The Omoda C9 AWD variant adds luxuries such as adaptive suspension, off-road driving modes, Nappa leather upholstery, a black and brown interior colour scheme, red brake callipers, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, integrated fragrance system and an adaptive front lighting system to the standard offering.
